WALKER “BUD” MAHURIN

Flying P-47s with the legendary Wolfpack he was the USAAF’s first double Ace in Europe. During 17 months of heavy combat he downed 21 German aircraft, bailed out three times and survived a crash behind enemy lines, returning to England with the help of the French Resistance. All this before flying Mustangs in the Pacific. Fighting in Korea, he claimed 3½ MiGs before being shot down, surviving 16 months as a POW in brutal conditions.

With a final score of 24¼ victories, he was the only USAAF Pilot to score victories in Europe, the Pacific and Korea and is one of the most renowned American Aces of WWII.
