Description
Introduced in 1931, the DH.82 Tiger Moth is a British biplane built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. Although its primary role was as a trainer aircraft for the RAF, during WWII it was operated in other capacities, including maritime surveillance, a defensive anti-invasion role and some aircraft were even outfitted to function as armed light bombers.
Having held a pilot’s license since 1960, for many years artist Gerald Coulson could be seen buzzing the Fens of Cambridgeshire, England in his own Tiger Moth. In this evocative painting he has captured the aircraft performing a loop, with the English countryside far below.
