Description
30 January 1943
For Goering – the man who had once promised the German people that “no enemy aircraft will fly over the Reich territory” – the raid on Berlin was utter humiliation.
Anthony Saunders’ dramatic painting pays tribute to this pivotal moment in the war when RAF Mosquito’s carried out their first two daylight raids on Berlin to disrupt major speeches by Goering and Goebbels. His masterful brush brings the scene into vibrant, spectacular life with painstaking attention to detail, capturing the Mosquito B.Mk.IVs of 105 Sqn departing the target area, following their successful strike on the Haus des Rundfunk.
