Description

Taking a well-worn Mk.I Hurricane off from Speke, Flight Lieutenant Denys Gillam spots a raiding JU88 crossing the airfield ahead of him and promptly shoots it down. It was the fastest air victory of the war, and probably of all time.

Robert Taylor’s superb painting shows Gillam’s Hurricane, guns blazing while the undercarriage is still retracting.
