Description

The peace and tranquility is momentarily disturbed by the thunderous return of a flight of Lancaster Bombers as the great four-engined aircraft make their final approach after a raid over enemy territory. The men of Bomber Command have come home.

This outstanding pencil is Robert’s original working drawing for one of his most famous paintings and was featured in his first Air Combat Paintings book

This stunning drawing is conservation framed to include the original autographs of Four Bomber Command Victoria Cross recipients:

Flight Lieutenant BILL REID VC – Pilot on Lancasters with 617 Sqn
Warrant Officer NORMAN JACKSON VC – Flight Engineer on Lancasters with 106 Sqn
Group Captain LEONARD TRENT VC – Pilot on Lancasters with 617 Sqn for 40 operations
Wing Commander ROD “BABE” LEAROYD VC – Flew Hampdens with 49 Sqn, awarded VC for supreme courage

Also included is the rare autograph of the Commander in Chief of Bomber Command during WWII:
Marshal of the RAF Sir ARTHUR “BOMBER” HARRIS BT GCB OBE

Robert’s original work is hugely sought after among collectors but seldom becomes available on the open market, making this is a perfect opportunity to acquire an original piece by one of the world’s most collected aviation artists.
